Saint Laurent Cassandre Envelope Wallet Review

YSL has always been a popular brand, but in the last few years the popularity of this brand has skyrocketed even more, partially in thanks to the number of celebrities and influencers choosing to wear this luxe brand. While many still think of the brand as YSL, it was actually rebranded in 2012, hence why the brand is usually referred to Saint Laurent instead. Thankfully they kept the classic YSL monogram as a symbol of the original brand. I've always loved YSL, it's timeless, classic and feminine and it will always be one of my top luxury brands.

The is the Saint Laurent Cassandre Envelope Wallet in Grain de Poudre Leather, and the reason I ended up with this baby was because I had a huge much loved Status Anxiety wallet, but sadly it didn't fit into any of my smaller bags. I am a sucker for small cross body bags, and I needed a wallet that could go from a tote to a small bag with ease.

The Saint Laurent Cassandre Envelope Wallet is the perfect size for any bag really. It's very slimline and petite, yet you'd be surprised at what you can fit in it! It has four card slots inside and one on the back pocket. There's also a lot of room in the main compartment for additional cards, and this is actually where I store mine. At any given time I have about ten in here, plus my most used EFTPOS card in the outer pocket on the back for easy access. There's also room to carry a small amount of cash. Like I say, you will be very surprised at what you can fit in here, and I wish I had gone for a smaller wallet like this earlier!

In terms of style, this is a classic envelope wallet, with dome that snaps shut. You never need to worry about anything falling out as it is lovely and secure. The wallet is made from grained leather with a matelassé quilted finish. This leather is extremely hardwearing, so it perfect for a wallet. The quilted look gives that extra elegance, and the gold hardware is just to die for! This one also comes in silver, and while I'm usually a silver jewellery gal, I'm loving gold hardware on my bags and SLG's right now! I feel like the YSL logo is just the right amount of bling - luxe but not tacky!

This is definitely a wallet that lasts the distance, and mine still looks great 5 years on. The leather is elegant and luxe, yet stands up to being thrown in a bag (I definitely don’t baby my bags!) I do however keep my loose keys in a pouch to avoid scratching the logo and I also try and turn the hardware and logo towards the soft fabric of the bag rather than facing out into the middle of the bag where it can get scratched. However after five years of heavy use, there's only a tiny bit of rubbing on the corners of the leather and a few small hairline scratches on the gold hardware. It's definitely a workhorse and can afford to be throw around and a bit abused!

If you are in the market for a designer wallet that's small enough to fit in a crossbody or mini bag, then I can't rate this one enough. It's a great investment and a beautiful designer piece. It comes in a range of different leather colours and hardware shades too.
